Membership Charter of North America Volunteers
Article 1: Mission
To cultivate leadership skills and a spirit of public service among Chinese American youth, fostering their personal growth and success. The goal is to contribute to the unity and development of the Chinese American community and to have a positive impact on society. By establishing a membership system, we aim to enhance family engagement and support for the Foundation, promote integration between families with children and existing community service initiatives, and ensure the long-term, stable, and healthy development of the Foundation’s mission to nurture the next generation.

Article 2: Membership Eligibility
Current elementary, middle, and high school students who meet one or more of the following criteria are eligible to apply for membership:

2.1 Participation in or organization of Tomorrow’s Light public service projects approved by the Foundation.

2.2 Participation in leadership development activities organized by the Foundation, such as speech competitions.

2.3 Individuals who have not participated in Foundation activities but are interested in participating in or initiating a project.

2.4 Individuals who have not participated in Foundation activities but have experience organizing or participating in other public service activities and meet the eligibility criteria for the Foundation’s public service awards.
Article 3: Membership Enrollment
Applicants become members by completing the registration form on the North America Volunteers membership portal and paying the membership fee.

Article 4: Member Benefits and Rights

4.1 Completing 25 volunteer service hours through Tomorrow’s Light activities qualifies for a Tomorrow’s Light Certificate and cash award.

4.2 Eligibility to apply for the President’s Volunteer Service Award through the Foundation.

4.3 Participation in the Tomorrow’s Light Speech Competition, with opportunities for certificates and cash prizes.

4.4 Eligibility to apply for the North America Outstanding Chinese American High School Public Service Scholarship.

4.5 Priority enrollment and scholarship opportunities for the Youth Leadership Summer Camp.

4.6 Priority enrollment and scholarship opportunities for the Carnegie Training Program.

4.7 Access to regular seminars for students and parents, where experts address key issues of concern.
Article 5: Member Obligations

5.1 Members must uphold the reputation of the North America Volunteers and comply with its regulations and operational procedures.

5.2 Actively participate in Foundation activities and promote the Foundation’s mission of public service and charity.

5.3 Timely payment of membership dues.
Article 6: Membership Renewal and Termination

6.1 Membership is valid for the year of enrollment and must be renewed annually through re-registration and payment of dues.

6.2 Members who fail to renew their membership within the designated period will have their membership status suspended until renewal is completed.

6.3 Membership may be terminated under any of the following circumstances:

(a) Voluntary withdrawal submitted in writing to the Foundation.
-
(b) Failure to pay membership dues within the specified timeframe.
-
(c) Serious violations of the Foundation’s regulations, activities, or mission, resulting in reputational damage to the Foundation.

6.4 The Foundation reserves the right to revoke membership based on a review and decision by the Membership Committee.
